• 45%(3) report MD and CAM equally effective

• 72%(1, 1990 ) did not inform their MD

• 61%(2, 1998 ) do inform their MD

• 74%(2) use CAM with conventional care

• Only 8.5%(3) discontinued CAM, unwanted side effects
